I really want to be a foster mom, i can’t seem to get pregnant on my own and i LOVE kids. I work in a daycare but anyway. I want to foster but i don’t know if i would get approved.
What areas do case workers look at.
What kind of things would cause me to not get approved.
MY mom has a dwi charge and aggravated assault charge against her. that was like years ago but could it play a big factor in the final decision?
Lets just say i didn’t have the best childhood. All i want to do is give a child a good and happy home.
Hi,
I kind of work in the field, but I don’t know much about foster parents. We actually have the kids BEFORE they get placed with foster parents.
I think it’s a great idea that you want to be a foster parent, and perhaps you could potentially adopt through the process and become a permanent home to a lost child. Adoption itself is so expensive… this is a good alternative, IF you can handle the children *leaving* as well.
I personally think this would be the difficult area of foster parenting. You will get attached to some of the kids.. and then when you know how much their home life sucks (the reason they were pulled from their home in the first place), and you have to send them back home, that would be hard.
Also, these kids are considered high-risk kids. Depending on the population that you decide to “accept”, you might be dealt a difficult hand. Because, some deal with rapes- and reoccuring nightmares.. some kids deal with drug abuse- withdrawls and relapse.
I honestly think that you could go in, and talk to a caseworker, and tell them that you don’t want your mothers past to reflect on your ability to be a good foster parent.
Things that I think they look at include:
-if you’re married
-if you have a stable home
-if you own or rent your home
-the surroundings of your neighborhood
-if you smoke, drink, or do drugs
-your availability
-your common sense / education
-your other job (that might conflict)
-your background check (your prior convictions)
-your husbands background check
-your driving record (you’ll be driving w/the child)
-first aid/CPR certified
A major factor in what they decide to look at depends on what age you want to take in to your home, and what gender. Some take only babies, some take only teen boys, some take only young girls.. it all depends on what criteria meets what age group you want.
sorry to hear you can’t have kids.. call the state and meet with a caseworker about foster parenting, that would be your first step. Good luck~
Slowly through the village street walked an elderly man, with bronzed features and thin gray hair, supporting his somewhat uncertain steps by a stout cane. He was apparently tired, for, seeing a slight natural elevation under a branching elm tree, he sat down, and looked thoughtfully about him….

There are few more helpless and frightening feelings than when you are being pulled over on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. Amidst the chaos and fear, however, it is important to remember that you do have rights. And while no one expects you to possess the knowledge of an experienced Arizona DUI attorney in that stressful moment, knowing your rights will go a long way if you are stopped and charged with driving while intoxicated. The Law Offices of Craig W. Penrod would like to remind you not only to seek qualified legal representation in the form of an experienced Arizona DUI lawyer, but to protect yourself at the scene by remembering and applying these helpful tips.
If you are pulled over on suspicion of DUI, you can expect to be questioned and to be asked to perform any number of field sobriety tests. At this point you should immediately ask to call an attorney. Our office has a 24-hour help line that will allow you to seek advice that can help you protect against incriminating yourself at the time of your arrest. If you are denied your right to consult with an attorney at the time of your arrest, it is a violation of your constitutional rights which could result in the dismissal of your case.
When pulled over always remember that you have the right to remain silent. Other than your name and address, you are not required to answer any questions asked of you, as they will no doubt be questions designed to incriminate you. You will be required to produce identification, registration and proof of insurance, and are required to submit to an analysis of your blood, breath or urine. You are not required to do anything else. You are not required to perform physical or field sobriety tests or submit to the “eye” test. If asked to do so, politely decline.
You have the right to refuse any field sobriety tests or other physical tests, and with good reason. The results of field sobriety tests are dependent upon a number of factors (height, weight, medical conditions, weather and lighting conditions, etc.) and not an exact science. Add the stress of the situation and the odds of passing such tests are exceedingly low. Say no to all requests for such tests; it’s your right and by far your best bet.
Remember that your first move when pulled over for suspicion of DUI is to ask to speak to an attorney. If you don’t know the number of an attorney, the officer must provide you with a phone book so that you may find one. Making this one simple phone call will allow you the lifeline you need to know what to do and what not to do at the scene, and how to protect your rights in an adverse situation

Despite the fact that Americans have been campaigning against drunk driving since the early eighties, there are still those who excuse themselves from breaking such a serious law. For this reason, police are constantly vigilant for those who may be operating a vehicle under the influence. Yet, this is not to say that if you are arrested for such a thing that you are necessarily drunk. Each case is different, and unique. If your case is one of the exceptions, you may require a DUI lawyer.
The great thing about having a DUI lawyer is that he knows exactly what must be done and how to go about doing it -properly. As the DUI lawyer has experience with this specific form of case, he will be able to do his job expediently while giving you a feeling of relief knowing that someone is on your side.
One of the first things that the DUI lawyer will look for is whether you were in any way deprived of your constitutional rights. This can mean something as simple as not being read your Miranda Rights, or being arrested without being first given a breathalyzer test. This may also apply if there were any known discrepancies with the breathalyzer or other means of determining your blood to alcohol level. For instance, maybe a model of breathalyzer was utilized which has proven to be defective, often giving readings that are much higher than they are in reality. Your DUI lawyer will be looking for just this sort of discrepancy.
The simple fact is that the police have a specific protocol to follow and if they do not it may infringe upon your basic rights, and this is unacceptable. Due to the complexity of drunk driving laws, there are many aspects that a DUI lawyer will look at to see if not only your rights were upheld, but also that the procedures that the police utilized to apprehend you were legal, and that every aspect leading up to and beyond the arrest was correct within the eyes of the law.
Many may find this a bit scandalous, thinking that DUI lawyers are simply “cons freeing the guilty.” However, the truth of the matter is more complex. Challenging the law and police procedures keeps the police “more honest.” At the same time those charged with DUI are simply exercising the rights granted by our constitution and subsequent, lesser laws.
Further, while a great many drunk drivers are certainly guilty, the fact is that there is a minority of cases in which the innocent are charged wrongfully. Such a case existed in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1993. A man who was medicated was given an especially powerful dose by his caregiver, which affected his driving, unbeknownst to him. By weaving on the road he attracted the attention of a peace officer, who rightfully pulled him over. Yet, not being a doctor, the officer mistook the driver for inebriated, and so arrested him. Don’t let this be you.

The VanDerZee Law Group in Lakeland, FL, has just released its brand new website. The new site is a complete makeover of the law firm’s predecessor. With the new design, optimized content, and reorganization, the law firm is hoping to boost traffic to the site and increase its visitor conversion rate. The law firm made this move because they know how important the internet is to attracting new clients and expanding their business. To take on this challenge of gaining exposure, visibility, and notoriety on the web, the firm contracted Designed for Justice, a new upstart web design and search engine optimization firm that specializes in work for law firms.
The most noticeable difference between the old site and the new one is the aesthetically pleasing design. The new design emphasizes a professional simplicity that captures the personality of the VanDerZee Law Group in a way that conveys trust and familiarity to its Lakeland clients. It retained the logo and color scheme of the previous site, and in doing so, brought out the best of a previously mediocre design.
The reorganization of the site is also a major change. Instead of all of the areas of practice being placed on the same page, the law firm’s main areas of practice each have their own. These pages are criminal defense, family law, and military law. The goal is that visitors on the site will be able to more quickly find what they are looking for, and therefore, more likely to stay on the new site.
The new site is also putting its focus on the quality of content. Many new pages have been added and will continue to be added into the future. The content will also be contributed in yet another new feature on the firm’s website: a blog. With the blog, not only does VanDerZee law group hope to maximize its internet exposure, but it also aims to maintain more communicative relationships with its clients.
