Indianapolis Criminal Lawyer Can you share any advice about this legal problem?
Okay, while I was on vacation in Indianapolis last June for the Indy 500, I was cited a minor in possession of alcohol by an undercover officer.
Here’s the problem, I live in Arizona and two weeks ago I received a summons from State of Indiana, County of Marion Superior Court stating that I have to appear in court in September for this citation.
Now there is no way I can make this court date as I live in Arizona and I do not have the money to have a lawyer represent me for the hearing. They said failure to appear will result in a warrant for my arrest.
My concern is will this warrant be able to get me arrested here in Arizona and could this warrant affect me in getting a possible job or my driver’s liscene?
FYI, the Indiana criminal code is 07.1-0005-0007-0007-MC Poss. Alcohol by Minor/MC.
They probably would not extradite you back to Indiana for this violation, so it is doubtful you would be arrested for it in your home State. Possible, but doubtful.
If you do not go to court, or have a lawyer go for you, they will issue a warrant for your arrest and may suspended your drivers license.
It would be up to your employer if they wanted to discipline you or not, if they find out about the warrant.
I would contact the court in Indiana and talk to someone up there about this. You may be able to pay a fine and waive your court appearance. I would not ignore the summons.

Criminal Law Lawyer what are all the branches of law that you can become a lawyer in, such as a criminal lawyer?
I hope to read law sometime in the forseeable future but the only branches of law that i’m aware of are criminal, divorce and environmental law. What are the other branches that you can become a lawyer in, as law is so vast i wish to know what other options are available to widen the possibilities for the future.
This link gives a good summary of areas of the law, but it is by no means complete and many lawyers specialise in small branches of those areas, where they see that there is a demand for their expertise. Some lawyers are versatile enough to move from one area to another as new prospects open up. Others combine their legal work with some other discipline — eg. accountancy. It is a good thing not to think too early about specialising, but to leave the field wide open. Pittsburgh Criminal Lawyer Criminal Record for Summary Offenses?
I was recently received a non-traffic citation summons for public drunkenness and criminal trespass in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I was walking to a friends house in an unfamiliar part of town. The road I was walking on did not have a sidewalk so I was on the edge of the road. I had been drinking but I was not given any type of sobriety test. I was simply lost and did not realize that I was in any way trespassing by walking along the edge of the road.
I have been told that the maximum fine is $300, which is less than hiring a lawyer. However, it is important to me to maintain a good record. I will be starting med school next year and I would be very embarrassed to tell the school about this incident or any future employers. If I plead guilty will this show up on a background check. Is it likely that I will be able to get the charges reduced/dropped with a lawyer because I have no previous offenses? Thanks.
Where I practice, California, the answer is yes. Your goal will be to complete an alcohol program in exchange for the dismissal of the trespass. If you complete the alcohol program and pay the fine, you will be requesting the public drunkenness dismissed. This is commonly called “diversion.” Diversion is where the DA agrees to continue the case to give you enough time to complete a program and then dismisses it or proceeds depending on how well you do.
However, in view of your circumstances, it might be worth your while to hire an attorney, even though an attorney will cost more than the fine. Of course, there is nothing wrong to ask the judge and DA what they will do. If you don’t like what you hear, if its different from the diversion I described above, then you can ask for time to hire a lawyer. The value of protecting your record is worth more than the fee to hire a lawyer when you take your aspirations into consideration.
