stopped for speeding, had open container or beer, had 3 guns laying on the front seat. What is Alabama”s punishment for these offenses?
man 53 yrs. old, was driving home, cops stopped hism for speeding, then saw open container and guns. Took him to jail for 24 hrs. released on $1600. bond, awaiting hearing. What will happen. If he loses his drivers lic, he loses his job
He will probably lose his drivers license, but it will not expire for a month or so still and then he will be able to apply for a restricted occupational drivers license so he can at least drive to work and back. It is hard to say for sure what sentence he will get. 24 hours may have been all the jail time required, but there are some prosecutors and judges that will try put him in jail as long as possible. They will also probaly not give back his firearms if he was clearly intoxicated, though he will still retain his right to buy firearms in the future. If he gets a jail sentence longer than two weeks then he should immediately ask the Judge if he could get work release. This will allow him to travel to work and back from jail and while you are working it still counts as hours in jail.

I’m in the US. The one thing I’d like to change is that as long as ANY law is on the books, that is in force- that law should be enforced. Laws that aren’t going to be enforced, should be repealed. I believe that unenforced laws undermine ALL laws. I’m not advocating locking up everybody. But, it’s wrong that an act that is ignored or permitted 10,000 times, should be prosecuted on the 10,001st time. The purpose of laws is supposed to be for public safety and protecting people from wrongful acts. So, if a law exists, it should be for the good of the public-and needs to be enforced. If the law fulfills no reasonable public need, then it should be repealed.

I lost my license for DUI in Pennsylvania awhile back and life in general is downright hard without a license especially when you live in the middle of nowhere.
I’ve heard people mention that they had gotten a license from another state while their PA license was suspended. My question is, how do I do this, and what state is the best to go for?
First a couple of clarifications need to be made by you.
1. awhile back? what was the actual result. We can’t give you a complete answer without knowing the whole facts. I don’t mean point by point. Arrest, Charge, conviction, penalty – what were they? Most states, regardless of how strict they are, don’t just take your license away and never give it back. There was a penalty and it has a finite time attached to it.
