what is punishment for first dui and having unconcealed guns in vehicle?
stopped for speeding, had open container or beer, had 3 guns laying on the front seat. What is Alabama”s punishment for these offenses?
man 53 yrs. old, was driving home, cops stopped hism for speeding, then saw open container and guns. Took him to jail for 24 hrs. released on $1600. bond, awaiting hearing. What will happen. If he loses his drivers lic, he loses his job
He will probably lose his drivers license, but it will not expire for a month or so still and then he will be able to apply for a restricted occupational drivers license so he can at least drive to work and back. It is hard to say for sure what sentence he will get. 24 hours may have been all the jail time required, but there are some prosecutors and judges that will try put him in jail as long as possible. They will also probaly not give back his firearms if he was clearly intoxicated, though he will still retain his right to buy firearms in the future. If he gets a jail sentence longer than two weeks then he should immediately ask the Judge if he could get work release. This will allow him to travel to work and back from jail and while you are working it still counts as hours in jail.
