this is my first offence i was drinking and i had xanax what do you think the pen. are for first offeneders?
Holy Sh!t!!! New Jersey cops are a nightmare!!! I live in Delaware and I’ve had many friends who have had run-ins with them. The cops are way worse down state too in the sticks. Anyway, as far as the laws go in Jersey, I am unsure. You can find a copy of the New Jersey state legal code on their website.

It’s in there somewhere. Then you can see if there are any minimum mandatory sentences for either of those offenses. Here in Delaware, a first time offender for a DUI gets a 90 day license suspension and must attend mandatory classes. If you get caught with a controlled substance that is not prescribed to you, you will most likely be placed in the first offenders program which requires you to attend drug classes and to get drug tested for a year. It’s friggin’ harsh and I believe that New Jersey has similar programs in effect. However, if you are not from this area, they may give you a different form of punishment considering you circumstances. I would do some research on that website I gave you (mind you, looking up legal info is very long, boring and tedious) and you will most likely find what you need.
