Juvenile Dui
question on police/corrections officer eligibility?
alright, when i was 16 i got a dui. i am now 18 turning 19 in may and since sealed my juvenile records and have had no contact with law enforcement in any negative way. I want to know if there is any possible way i can still become a peace officer or corrections officer in the state of california or if i completely ruined my hopes and dreams as a child.
Check this out…. you juvenile record is sealed…to the public only, it is not sealed to law enforcement. The will know about your DUI, but it was when you were 16, so as long as you keep clean until you are 20 1/2, the age you nust be to enter the police academy in california, you will be fine. You will have to submit to a polygraph exam so you have to be truthfull about everything you have done wrong in your life. There are plenty of police officers that have gotten into trouble as a child, but they showed through their actions that the incident was a mistake and nothing more and they did not show a pattern of trouble, or any kind of integrity problems. You still have a good shot to be a police officer in California. Good luck to you.
