God with us, both good and bad times with the current crisis in Haiti invades our psyche, is a good time to revisit our theology on God, his Favorite use of power and its role in suffering. Going through a crisis like this, or a personal crisis such as cancer, divorce, or a violent crime, we think clearly, not settle for easy answers that are short-lived comfort.

There are legal reasons why divorce is not legal for wife battery. I am a survivor of spousal abuse, and if I had stayed with him, I'd be dead. Thank goodness it's legal.
