Laws of shared parenting "misread" An evaluation report of the reforms to the system of family law in Australia says that the amendment Shared parental responsibility was never meant to say shared custody.

Bill C-37 that happened on 17 April 2008 and finally entered into force on 17 April 2009 is a very interesting amendment to the Canadian Citizenship Act. This document give Canadian citizenship to those who lost or never had it, due to outdated provisions of existing legislation and earlier. The government believes this could restore citizenship of hundreds of thousands of unsuspecting foreigners. The majority (over 240,000) believed that in America, and these are just the people born from 1947 to 1977. This amendment not only Canadian citizenship automatically restored to many who were forced to abandon it when they became citizens of another country, but also granted citizenship to their children. After 1947 there were actually many problems with the Citizenship Act that resulted in errors and loss of citizenship. The new amendment makes people instantly Canadian citizens, have yet to apply for citizenship. It means that people who do not want to change nationality not need to solve the problems to be recognized as a Canadian citizen. People who want to keep their other nationality can always give up his new citizenship.

Looking at the history of Canadian Citizenship Act came into force on 1 January 1947, and declared that anyone (with the exception of children diplomat) born in Canada since 1947 acquired Canadian citizenship at birth. In 1977, Canadian nationality law was revised when the new Citizenship Act came into force. From this date the Canadians who were born outside the country were granted citizenship and Canada also fully accepts multiple citizenship. However, people who lost their citizenship before that date are not automatically restored until 17 April 2009 when Bill C-37 became law. The group of activists have played an important role in the approval of this project consisted mainly of people born in the thirty year period from 1947 to 1977.

The fight for this amendment and restoration was initiated by a group of people who lost their citizenship rights because of various reasons quite unfair. Most are Canadians who were born in the U.S. hospitals from 1947 to 1977. During this time, if a family crossed the border and the child born in the U.S. and not registered with the government, the child was not recognized as Canadian. Also members of the families of Canadian soldiers lost their citizenship if they remained outside the country for a decade or more. There were also the grandchildren of the Canadian Mennonites who moved to Mexico in the 1920s to 1960. When the grandchildren tried returning to Canada for his nationality was classified as unclear. Although some of these cases were reviewed for years, this group of people with unclear nationality became more active in recent years. One reason was that new U.S. rules requiring passports for travel between Canada and the U.S. discovered a large number of people reporting that they are Canadian citizens, but not officially confirmed the citizens of Canada.
